Family

One of the best parts about funerals is family. It is such a bitter sweet time to be together. We were lucky and got some family pictures with almost everyone. We're still missing 4. It's so hard to get everyone together at the same time!!

I don't know what it is with Max and his pirate face these days. He does that pose nearly every time we take a picture of him!

Grandma Moedl's Funeral

On September 20th grandma Moedl passed away. She was an absolutely remarkable woman. Grandma became a quadriplegic about 43 years ago after an exploratory surgery. She was a living example of patience and virtue. In all my 32 years I never heard grandma complain about her  circumstances. It was a great experience to make a slide show of her life. It was so fun to hear her life history and some of the stories that I had never heard before. I will always remember her smile and the quick wit she had. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to know Ruth W. Moedl.

Ice Blocking

There are some things I love about being a grown-up. I can stay up as late as I want. Eat anything I so desire. Spend my time doing pretty much whatever I want. Just because I don't always choose to do these things, doesn't mean I don't love having the choice.

Then, there are other things I hate about being a grown-up. Money. Endless loads of laundry. Money. But, most of all being so busy taking care of life that I forget to take time to play. Dave always says one of his favorite quotes is that people tend to be humans doing and not human beings. With every day stress, it's really easy to forget to enjoy life.

Enter the Young Women organization. I'm not really part of the playing side....I am the Sunday teacher. But, I do get to go to all the activities - and without the stress of planning. We have such a fun group of girls. They are so carefree and fun to be around. It brings back so many memories of being that age. Time goes way too fast.

Anyway, back to the post at hand. Last night, we went ice blocking. In my every day business for the last 10ish years or so, I completely forgot about ice blocking! It's the most wonderful thing in the world!!

Ice blocking is simple. It's a summer sledding activity. You need hills, a block of ice, a towel, bravery to make it to the bottom, and enough muscle to push the block of ice back to the top. It's a hoot! Our kids had a blast!!!

Bria got brave and decided to go head first.

Max took a little while to actually get the hang of it.

First, he went faster than the block.

Then, the block went faster than him.

 

 

By the end of the night, he was great at pushing the block back up the hill.

It was so much fun to get out and just have an enjoyable night off. I know we all needed it.!

Breakfast at the Websters

Lately Logan has been trying to be more and more independent. Especially with eating. If he can do it on his own, he wants too. This is more true with breakfast than with any other meal. He outright refuses to even open his mouth if I try to feed him. The only way he will even consider eating breakfast is on his own!

I always have a hard time with part of babies growing up. It's just so messy! But, at the same time, the more I let them eat on their own, the cleaner they learn to eat. Sigh... Just have to get through the messy, I guess.

This morning, I'm not sure a bib was even necessary....

I know it's hard to tell from the picture, but his cereal went past his bib, down the entire front of his pajamas. It was also all over in his hair and highchair. I even found a few drops in his ears. At least he has a look of satisfaction on his face.

Friday Farmer's Market

We've been going to the Rexburg Farmer's Market every Friday night to sell our soap. It's an evening Farmer's Market - not a morning one like they usually are. It's actually a really fun Friday hangout. It's right next to the Rexburg Tabernacle, so lots of grass for the kids to play. There are tons of food vendors that serve the yummiest food - a perfect place to find a nice dinner. And, they always have some sort of entertainment going on.

Every week, there is always a little something different. This week was a way fun week.

The kids had a blast with the sidewalk chalks there to play with:

The pottery guy (I should really know his name by now!) had his pottery wheel there.

Logan was a trooper playing in the pack n play all night.

And, the best part was the live entertainment! They arranged to have John Peter Lewis come and sing. Longtime American Idol fans might remember him from Season 3. He's actually really good. It was fun to listen to him sing while we were selling.

We couldn't resist getting a picture and an autograph.

First Day of School!

Yay for the first day of school! Bria has been excited for such a long time. I'm excited to have some sort of routine at home. It'll still be busy, busy, busy. But, at least life will be structured!

Bria was so excited for school to start, she actually woke up 15 minutes before her alarm went off. We had a fun "first day of school" breakfast this morning. Then, if was off to get ready. I think Bria had a mixture of excitement and nervousness. What do you think?

Ready or not, First Grade here she comes!!

Max still has one more year before starting school. He really missed Bria today. They are the best of friends. Halfway through the day, he begged me to call Bria on the phone. I have several ideas to keep him pretty busy while she's gone. We are going to have preschool - at home. I have a curriculum we're going to use. And, I signed him up to go to story time every week at our local library. Today was the first day. Even Logan got pretty into the stories and singing. I think it's probably going to be the highlight of the week!

I took tons of pictures and this is the only one that Logan was even sort of looking at the camera. He was pretty excited about all the toys in the room.
