The Next Leg of the Trip

Our trip was long! Albuquerque was amazing! And we probably could have gone straight home. But one of the benefits of being a school counselor is that Dave gets the summer off. We didn't have anything that we HAD to be home for. Before we even left on our trip, we were contemplating a long detour home. It wasn't until it was time to leave that we decided to go for it. As sad as we were to leave Albuquerque, we were on the road before we knew it. We headed straight North. Back through Santa Fe and all the way to Denver.

We didn't stay in Denver very long, but Dave really wanted to stop at Mile High Stadium. We arrived late at night and everything was closed. I can't believe how big Denver is. I think all of this country living helps me appreciate the pure size of cities. Anyway....Here it is: Mile High Stadium. You wouldn't guess it by the pictures, but it was almost 10:00 p.m. when we stopped.

After our very brief stop, we headed back on the road. Dave is a night driver. Really...he can drive practically all night long. We went all way to Cheyenne, Wyoming where we stayed the night. Our hotel was right across from the Cheyenne Depot Plaza. One thing I love about travelling is all the new things you learn. Wanna know how Cheyenne got it's start? Railroad. There is a huge train depot and it's almost right downtown. The cool thing about Cheyenne is it is a real cowboy town. All around the plaza they have custom painted boots. There are tons. I tried to look the number up online, but could't find an exact amount. But I think somewhere in the neighborhood of 20-30.

Here's one:

Max's eyes are closed. That darn summer sun; it followed us North! We took tons of pictures and this was the best.

Poor Max, he and the sun don't agree with each other!

Our next stop was even farther North. South Dakota!

Logan is holding his Thomas the Tank Engine book. He's a little bit obsessed right now.

  1. Cute! That's awesome that you stopped by the state line sign. I always forget to do that.
