"I was not made for winter!"

We woke up this morning to a fresh blanket of snow. I was so excited because I had serious concerns as to whether we would even get a white Christmas. I knew that Bria would shout for joy when she got her first look out the window.

The kids immediately wanted to go play outside. I held them off as long as possible, but by 9:00, they couldn't stand the excitement. As soon as I gave the go ahead, Bria grabbed her coat and ran right outside. Meanwhile, I got Max ready and sent him to join her. In the time it took for me to get my coat and grab the camera, they were both done. It was soooo cold....nothing like running around outside during the summer. Poor Max wouldn't even pose for a picture. So, we all came in for hot chocolate. (I secretly wonder if they didn't really just want the hot chocolate and used whole the going outside excuse as a means to an end....)

Later today we watched I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown. In one part, after playing outside in the snow, Charlie Brown's sister Sally screamed "I was not made for winter!" I just thought that was an appropriate expression of how the kids felt after playing outside today.

Well, I'm excited anyway. It's the end of the day and we still have the snow. Maybe we'll have a white Christmas after all.

  2. Well, this is a good time to let the kids know that snow is very beautiful, but it is soooo very cold. Snow is more pretty than playful. Maybe when it warms up a little they will have more fun playing outdoors. I hope you are able to still have a white Christmas. It is snowing here today as well, but it will not last.
