I keep wishing I had started blogging earlier in the year. We have had a very busy year! So, I decided it would be fun throughout December to post our top 10 memories of 2008. I don't want them to be holidays, since those happen every year, but something new that we did or discovered in 2008.
So, the #10 Memory is about the Ice Cream Truck that came through our neighborhood. To fully appreciate how special this is, you have to first understand that we don't live in the city. Our house is in a subdivision, but we live in the country. There has never been an ice cream truck drive by our house since we have lived here.....well, really any house that we have lived in since we were married. So, of course, we had to let our kids buy an ice cream cone.

Bria was the first to make it to the ice cream truck - she ran ahead barefoot. The truck had gone almost around the block before we decided to get ice cream. Luckily, it is such a new subdivision that the kids could run through the back yards to get to it.

Max's little legs couldn't quite run fast enough. At least he wore shoes - although those are Bria's shoes he has on.

The kids were super excited about which kind of ice cream to choose from. Good thing mom was there to distract the kids from the $4 ice cream cones. (I know! The ice cream man cost a little bit more than I remember from my childhood).

Bria's favorite flavor for everything is Bubble Gum, so of course that is what she got. Max got a Snoopy Ice Cream. Almost the whole neighborhood bought ice cream that day. I seriously thought we might see the ice cream man come through more often since so many people came out. But, no....
It seems like one memory for every child should be buying ice cream from the ice cream man.
Prices have gone up a little? I wouldn't know we never got ice cream from the ice cream truck. It coast to much money. But I can't complan because I know that the house I grew up in never had a shorteg of store bought ice cream!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute. These are really candid shots. This is a good memory for a first buy from the ice cream man and truck. Ice cream used to be about $2.50 when Shatzi was little. $5.00 is a bit steep in price. I guess that means that buying icecream from the icecream truck is a luxury now. GrandPa needs to stop telling people who come for dinner that we would have had dessert for them except the ice cream man hasn't come yet. They might expect it from now on. Grandma
